Perched on a Mountainside…
The bricks and mortar of School of the Arts’ Tenth Street Campus have stood atop Nelson’s historic Fairview neighbourhood since 1954. Overlooking the West Arm of Kootenay Lake, in the long shadow of the peaks at Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park, the campus is a picturesque portrait of post-secondary.
If you are studying Digital Arts, Music & Technology or Web Development, your classes will be held in Patenaude Hall where post-secondary students have been devouring knowledge for well over a half century. The pursuit of knowledge at School of the Arts Tenth Street Campus has thrived and survived from the days when the Notre Dame University operated here. At the start of 2000-2001 academic year, Selkirk College became the primary tenant on the Tenth Street Campus, opening a new era of learning at the valued facility.
A Vibrant Learning Space…
Today, this campus welcomes about 300 students each year including Professional Cook Training, Ski Resort Operations & Management and Resort & Hotel Management programs.
Our Tenth Street Campus also includes Tenth Street student housing opened new in 2011. The Shambhala Music & Performance Hall keeps the cultural vibe humming and allows Music & Technology students a venue for hands-on learning. Grab lunch at the fantastic cafeteria run by Professional Cook Training students.
